Founded in January 2006 as the Hammer City Roller Girls, this league was are the first not-for-profit, skater operated, flat track roller derby league in Canada. On July 22, 2006, in Burlington’s Central Arena, the league was founded by Lasha “Whiplasha” Laskowsky and a group of skaters where they held the first modern public roller derby bout in Canada. Hammer City has established itself as a competitive, hard-hitting league. The roller derby season is annually from March to June.

The records of the Hammercity Roller Derby have been maintained by the league since its inception in 2006.
Portée et contenu
Donation consists of league programs, posters, hand bills, publicity files, and uniforms of the Hammercity Roller Derby league. The uniforms include a blue shirt from the Death Row Dames team (2006-2011), a shirt and short set from the Tank Girls team (2006-2011), and two tanks from the Hammer City Roller Girls team (ca. 2014).

The fonds was donated to the Hamilton Public Library, Local History & Archives in 2007 by Maggie Middleton, President (2017-208) of the Hammer City Roller Derby.
