The material was transferred to Local History & Archives over a period of years from ca. 1979 to 2015 when the last records were received. The majority of records were received between 2012 and 2015 after the municipal chapter's disbandment.

The fonds consists of administrative and other records of the various Hamilton chapters of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE) from 1900 to 2012. The fonds is arranged chronologically by the date of the chapter’s foundation.

Associated materials
Local History & Archives has its own copies of the IODE periodical Echo from 1922 to 2005. Issues of the Echo from 1922 to 1976 are on microfilms #600-612 and the remaining issues are in the periodicals collection.
General McNaughton Chapter (1939-1969) of Dundas records are held by the Dundas Museum & Archives.
Aanvullingen
An accrual consisting of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings, correspondence, thank you cards and photographs pertaining to the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, was donated in 2019.
