The Canadian Federation of University Women Hamilton is part of a national organization (CFUW) which has local clubs or chapters in different locations across Canada. It is also referred to as the University Women's Club of Hamilton and CFUW Hamilton.

The University Women’s Club organized lectures on topics such as counselling , child psychology, world hunger, religion, mental hygiene, weather, sculpture, bee-keeping, owls, flags, human rights, and Canadian folksongs. A Development Fund was set up in 1952 to raise funds to have a clubhouse which spurred many different initiatives. From the 1950s until the late 1960s funds from the sale of hand-crafted goods were raised by the Clubhouse Crafts Group led by Miss Lois Allen. Scholarship assistance to women university students was granted through fund-raising efforts of the members. During World War 2 the members organized several initiatives to help with the war effort in Canada.
