The material consists of 13 volumes of records created by the City of Hamilton pertaining to the First and Second World Wars including Victory Bond purchases, casualty lists, Honour Rolls, as well as Soldiers’ Benefit Fund documents such as meeting minutes and insurance benefits payments. The volumes pertain predominantly to the First World War with the exception of a casualty list for World War Two, which is restricted material.

Hamilton Active Service Canteen fonds

The material in the fonds pertains to the Hamilton Active Service Canteen, run by volunteers for service members stationed in Hamilton, or on leave from active duty, during the Second World War. The material consists of meeting minutes, canteen administrative logbooks, financial records, including a few annual reports and an auditor's report, various types of correspondence, as well as a few notices, one of which advertises the closure of the canteen at the end of the war. The fonds also contains one photograph of an R.C.A.F. member who visited the canteen on leave from active duty.

The material consists of various military records and correspondence pertaining mostly to members of the McAfee family, particularly Angus, Daniel and Samuel. There is also some later correspondence from Nathaniel Hughson McAfee regarding the records of his family members.

Soldiers' Aid Commission, Hamilton Branch fonds

The material in the fonds consists of four volumes of administrative records pertaining to the Hamilton Branch of the Soldiers' Aid Commission. Two of the volumes are attendance books, including an undated book listing all the soldiers who attended dinners hosted by the Soldiers Aid Commission upon returning from overseas, as well as a meeting attendance book. There are also two volumes of meeting minutes for the Ontario Minutes Soldiers' Aid Commission, Hamilton Branch, dated December 1916 to October 1921, and November 1921 to November 1928.
