Series contains materials related to the Alumnae Association, including constitution, bylaws, and rules of order (1877) ; annual reports ; lectures and programs ; invitations to at-homes, levees and receptions ; Literary Club materials ; Membership materials ; Mrs. Ewing's cooking school programs ; badges, diplomas and awards (including copies of a diploma awarded to Hester Ann Rogers Horner in 1958, prior to incorporation, as well as original diplomas awarded to Matilda Meharry in 1871 and Lillie Hardy in 1887) ; as well as a manuscript book, which contains lists of music pupils and concert programs.

Annie E. Barker

File consists of correspondence between Waldon and Annie E. Barker, of Toronto, concerning the Act of Incorporation; the time that Annie and her sister, Rose, spent at Wesleyan Ladies’ College and Victoria University; the death of Florence E. Hall; Rose’s medal; Dr. Burns; Wesleyan’s location; the Burlington Academy; and pupils at the Wesleyan Ladies' College. Two newspaper clippings are included with the correspondence.

Series contains an annual meeting book with attestations and signatures of chapter members for 1907-1919, annual meeting books with handwritten minutes and reports for 1938-1985, as well as minutes and reports for 1953-1955, 1973 and 1983-2003.

Trophy and a can of Aero’s Dancing Wax. Series also contains two instruments: a melodica and a ukulele.

Series consists of a 13 minute VHS recording of an interview with artist Robert Bateman, conducted by Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club member Raymond Lowes. The interview pertains to the conception of the Bruce Trail, which was an idea conceived by Robert Bateman in the 1960s. He was concerned that if people did not use the escarpment area as a hiking trail, then it would be lost to developers.

Awards and ephemera

Series consists of certificates and plaques awarded to the IODE Hamilton Chapters by various institutions and organizations, including Women’s Voluntary Services, Mohawk College, Ronald McDonald House, the Canadian Red Cross, the Pediatric Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Bolingbroke Restoration Project, Our Millennium, and St. Matthew's House, and by various government bodies, namely the City of Hamilton, the Office of the Mayor (Hamilton), and the Government of Canada. Series also contains IODE membership awards and certificates of recognition for military service. In addition to awards, the series includes correspondence from the Canadian Manufacturer’s Exhibition, a copy of the creed of the IODE, two identical china plates featuring a depiction of IODE Hamilton Municipal Headquarters, a plaque from Fonthill recognizing the donation of the residence in memory of Mrs. S.O. Greening, and a framed hand-stitched banner.

Better Heating Limited

Item is an image of Better Heating Limited, which was located at 132-134 York Street on the north side between Bay Street North and Caroline Street North. The president of the company was George E. Gray and they sold warm air furnaces and stokers, McClary air conditioning systems, dustop filters, oil burners, etc. They also offered sheet metal factory maintenance. They appear in the city directories at this address from 1946 to 1955.

The fonds consists of three computer typed manuscripts written by Bruce New. The first manuscript is entitled "Down to the Pub" a memoir of the Gown and Gavel Pub former located at 24 Hess Street South in Hamilton. The second manuscript titled "...and so it came to pass.." is a collection of short entertainment. The third manuscript titled "On the Bus" recounts bus experiences in the city.

Series consists of records pertaining to business transactions, including mortgage documents, a debenture register containing debentures issued by the Township of Barton to various individuals and organizations, promissory notes, receipts and statements of costs, accounts and payments, authorizations of payments and non-payments, bonds, bank drafts and cheques, copyright and patent documents, statements and agreements on partnerships, as well as tenders and agreements for work and renovations.

Chapter histories

Series consists of two chapter histories. One book is a municipal chapter history, which contains by-laws (1985) for the chapter, the names of life members, the names of Hamilton IODE chapters with the dates each organized and disbanded, as well as the names of executive members present at annual meetings, including officers and conveners, stewards and house committee chairmen. The other book contains histories for Hamilton IODE chapters. The book contains a 50-year history for the Municipal Chapter, the St. Hilda Chapter, the St. Elizabeth Chapter, the St. Cecilia Chapter, the Caxton Chapter, the Paardeburg Chapter, the General Allenby Chapter, and the 67th University Battery Chapter. Some of the histories include an addendum that documents the next 10 years of the chapter, resuming from the point at which the 50-year history concluded.

Subseries consists of legal documents relating to two family estates; the Grierson family estate and the estate of Mary Wallace. Documents in the Grierson file include correspondence and estate papers such as deeds, mortgage sales and payments, power of attorney records and two fire insurance polies. The Mary Wallace file contains some letter correspondence from the law firm Chisholm, McQuesten & Welby to Kate Millar, regarding a watch that was bequeathed to her by her friend, Mary Wallace.

Subseries consists of documentation for two clients of Alexander Logie; Donald Frederick Campbell of Brampton, Ontario, and Sir John A. MacDonald of Kingston, Ontario. The documentation for Donald F. Campbell includes receipts and correspondence related to the sale of furniture, an assurance policy and receipts for premium fees, records related to the valuation of land and certification of title for lots in Chinquaconey (now Brampton, Ontario), correspondence related to a dispute between Owen Nowlan and Alexander Logie, Richard H. Rae, Donald F. Campbell and Thomasina Catherine Campbell, as well as a marriage contract between Donald F. Campbell and Thomasina Catherine Brega. The documentation related to Sir John A. MacDonald includes deeds for lots in Moore Township, statements documenting land sales, in such locales as Dover, Moore and Sombra, as well as correspondence between Sir John A. MacDonald and Alexander Logie, mostly concerning land sales and politics.

All yardage is given careful inspection to check quality, and uniformity of the finished cotton cloth. Series consists of two reports by White, Mossop & Erling Limited Consulting Engineers prepared in 1968 on the proposed specifications for the revisions to the power distribution system and alterations to the boiler house. There is also one mortgage report dated 1 January 1918 by The Hamilton Cotton Company Limited to Charles Sumner Scott and George Lynch-Staunton trustees.
